Majella is named after the goddess Maia, who supposedly lost her way in this park while searching for her lost son in the mountains. It stretches over 86,000 hectares in provinces of Pescara, Chieti and L'Aquaila. It is the home of 45% of wildlife in Italy today with a combination of wildlife, steep mountains, canyons and deep valleys. The National Park of Pollino extends over 192,565 hectares. It is located between Calabria and Basilicata stretching to the Ionian Sea, Argentino and Abatemarco Rivers to the streams of Peschiera and Frido. It was set up in 1993 mainly to preserve the Loricato Pine. This is the last place in the world where the pine grows. Surrounded by mountains and thick forests it is a shelter for birds and animals some of extinction danger. The best means to reach any of these places for a foreigner is to hire a car in Italy. Last but not least, let's not forget the children. Aquafan, for those waterbabies, is the most famous water theme park in Europe covering 100,000 sq meters with 3km of water slides, shows and water attractions. Mirabilandia is the largest amusement park of the Romagna region. It is located in Lido di Savio. It offers attractions for the whole family. It is the location of the all famous Katun and the new coaster iSpeed with a beach, waterpark and a lagoon close by which makes a fun-packed adventure for the whole family. Canevaworld is a resort located in La Lazise. Canevaworld Resort includes Medieval Times, dinner shows, Rock Star Restaurants with the famous Italian water park Aquaparadise and Movieland which works on the same concept as Universal Studio.
