There are numerous festivals in Italy throughout the year. Such festivals are the International film festival held in Italy, June olive oil festival, truffle festivals, medieval jousting festival, and Infiorata. In Venice the international film festival (IFF) is held. The “IFF” is the oldest film festival held in Venice starting the month of September in the early part of the month. “IFF” has been held in Venice for 66 years. Local olive oil company Olive Matters and The awaiting table cooking school sponsor the festival events. Truffle fairs and festi10vals celebrate the making and selling of truffles. These festivals are held in five locations through out Italy; Piedmont, Tuscany, Le Marche, Umbria, and Emilia-Romagna. These locations hold the fairs and festivals October through November. In Piedmont the festival is called “Alba and its Truffle Festival”, Tuscany is called “San Miniato Truffle Fair”, Le Marche is called “White Truffle Fair”, Umbria is known as “Truffle and Forest Products Fair” and Emilia-Romagna is called “Black Truffle Fair”. If you have a sweet tooth these festivals are for you for they produce truffles and sell for everyone’s enjoyment and celebration of them. Medieval jousting festivals (MJF) are held in Asciol Piceno, Italy. “MJF” is held on the first Sunday of August. They hold a parade down the main street of Asciol Piceno were the people are wearing costumes and their jousting shield and other things a jouster needs. Since Asciol Piceno did not grow into an urban city a huge medieval district stays intact. There are six jousting teams in the medieval jousting competition there are stands were spectators can root for their champions. Later in the evening the parade goes to the middle of the town to eat and watch the fireworks. People traveling from outside to witness this can avail the car hire in Italy for reaching these remote places. The Infiorata Flower art festivals are held during May and June. The art is made from thousands of flower petals and seeds along with dirt to outline the design in streets or abbeys. The most famous of these art festivals is held in Noto, Sicily on the third Sunday of May. On the main land of Italy the date of the Infiorata is held on Corpus Domini a holiday celebrated after Easter. These festivals are just a few that are offered in Italy. |
