Florence Attractions Museo Archeologico - Via della Colonna 38. This museum has an extensive collection of artifacts, including Egyptian artifacts; Roman remains; many Attic vases; an important Etruscan collection; and Renaissance collections. Mugello Region - The Mugello features some of the most original villages in Tuscany. The Sieve River, which winds through the grape-filled valley, is popular with canoeists. Duomo - Piazza del Duomo. This is one of the most spectacular sights in Florence, with Brunelleschi's famous dome; Giotto's bell tower; and a festive covering of white; green; and pink marble on the outside. Pitti Palace - One of the most visited sites on the southern bank of the Arno, this palace was designed by Brunelleschi for the Pitti family, rivals of the Medicis. Museo Zoologico La Specola - Via Romana 17. This museum has the largest zoological collection, with rooms full of insects; crustaceans; and stuffed birds and mammals. The museum was founded in 1775, and the collections are displayed in the style of an old-fashioned natural sciences museum, with specimens in beautiful old wood and glass cases.
