Cagliary: From the days of the Roman Empire Cagliari was the capital of Sardinia. Scores of small lanes are radiating from the old port. There are some monumental structures from the Roman era are left. Among them a cathedral, an amphitheatre and an archeological museum are the important ones.

The Barbagia: This mountainous region with forest cover was used for centuries by the Sardinians to protect themselves from the foreign invasions. There are some isolated villages still left.

Sardinia has a typical Mediterranean climate. It has son through out the year. The temperature goes lower than 0°C only rarely. It has rocky beaches and the centre of the island is mountainous.

Sardinia’s food also has the mark of its invaders. The Sardinian food has the influence of Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Spanish, Byzantine and Italians. The Sardinian cuisine includes wild boar, lamb and kid, suckling pig cooked with flames with delicate cocking methods. Sea food too is there.

Sardinia is becoming a vine producer as the coastal areas are suitable for vineyards. The thinly populated coastal areas could be developed to vine producing areas.
